Olivetti LSX 5025/E Won't Boot with ARROW.SYS DriverLast reviewed: May 15, 1997Article ID: Q114706 |
The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWindows NT will not start on an Olivetti LSX 5025/E using the Adaptec ARROW.SYS SCSI driver.
CAUSEThere is an Input/Output (I/O) memory conflict between the ARROW.SYS driver and the Olivetti UPS driver. The Adaptec Arrow control chip uses the I/O memory address range of 0xC00 to 0xCF0 and the Windows NT Arrow driver reserves the range 0xC00 to 0xCFF. The Olivetti LSX 5025/E computer uses the I/O memory address range 0xCF8 to 0xCFF to map an internal serial port, generating the conflict between the two drivers.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1.
