The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows NT operating system, version 3.1
  • Microsoft Windows NT Advanced Server, version 3.1

By default, Administrators and Power Users (in addition to Print Operators and System Operators on Windows NT Advanced Server) have full control over local printers. Other users have print access. The creator/owner of a document can administer only that document.

The permissions can be changed by choosing Permissions from the Security menu in Print Manager.

Full control access is required to pause or resume a printer, or to set its properties. Print access permits a user to view the documents on a printer and to submit documents.
