SYMPTOMSThe Windows NT Remote Access Service (RAS) displays confusing information when interpreting information for Transmit (TX), Receive (RX), or other RAS statistics.
CAUSEWindows NT supports the International application programming interface (API) so that applications can determine which language Windows NT is configured for. Using this information, applications can format output correctly according to the currently installed language. However, the RAS port monitoring utility (RASMON) does not use the Windows NT International API to determine the format for information it displays. Therefore, RASMON cannot determine the correct language installed and format its output accordingly. For example, RASMON will always use a comma as a thousands separator even though the French thousands separator is a space.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 3.1 and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
