Windows NT supplies a device driver for Maynard/Western Digital SCSI host adapters based on the Western Digital 33c93 chip. This device driver was designed around revision "a" of the adapter's main chip (WD 33c93a). Maynard and Conner adapters without the "a" revision chip, and Maynard adapters based on the AMD chip may not function correctly with this device driver.

There are seven major revisions to the Maynard/ Western Digital SCSI host adapters. The four oldest adapters of the seven have "Maynard" printed on them, the three newer adapters have "Conner." All seven adapter revisions have a revision number printed on the corner. Maynard revision 1, 2 or 3 adapters are not likely to use the WD 33c93a chip. Maynard revision 4 adapters and each of the three Conner adapters are likely to use it. The Conner revision 3 adapter was released in October 1993.
