SUMMARY

If you use the keyboard with the Data Parse command in Excel, and press the LEFT ARROW and RIGHT ARROW keys to move the cursor on the parse line, the data disappears.

MORE INFORMATION

When Excel displays the data in the parse line, it assumes a cell to be 255 characters in length. When the arrow keys are pressed, Excel inserts the cursor at the right end of the cell being parsed. In other words, the data is still present, but it is at the left end of the cell.

To get to the left end where the data appears, press the HOME key and then use the arrow keys to place the cursor where you want it. You can then insert brackets by typing them in the appropriate places, and remove them by using the BACKSPACE or DEL key.
