WinSleuth Gold Returns Inaccurate Disk Information

Last reviewed: May 8, 1997
Article ID: Q102405

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows NT operating system version 3.1
  • Microsoft Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1

SYMPTOMS

WinSleuth Gold returns inaccurate disk information.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because WinSleuth Gold reads the CMOS ports to determine how many physical hard disks the system has and what type numbers they are. In Windows NT, the virtual DOS machine (VDM) doesn't access the physical hard disk so there is no way to correctly report information with this application.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, use Windows NT Setup or Control Panel to get the desired system information.
