In Microsoft Excel, if you select cells with auditing arrows, hold down SHIFT, and then click either the Trace Precedents tool or the Trace Dependents tool on the Auditing toolbar, the auditing arrows are not removed from the cells.
NOTE: In Microsoft Excel versions 5.0 and 7.0, the auditing arrows are removed from the selected cells when you hold down the SHIFT key and click either of the tools.
To remove a precedent or dependent arrow from a cell in a worksheet, select the cell, and then click either the Remove Precedent Arrows tool or the Remove Dependent Arrows tool on the Auditing toolbar.
If you want to remove all auditing arrows from the active worksheet, click the Remove All Arrows tool on the Auditing toolbar.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
In Microsoft Excel, you can use the tools on the Auditing toolbar to determine which cells are dependent on values in other cells and which cells provide data to other cells in a worksheet. You can also use the Auditing toolbar to trace error values in a worksheet.
