This problem does not occur in Word 97 for Windows.

CAUSE/RESOLUTION

Case 1

Cause: There is a frame near the table.

Resolution: Move the frame away from the table, or replace the frame with a text box. Frames cannot be placed inside a table, but text boxes can.

If the frame doesn't have a border applied to it, it will be difficult to locate. To find the frame:

1. Click the Show All button on the Standard Toolbar.

2. Look for a lone paragraph mark near the table.

3. Move the insertion point to the left of the paragraph mark.

4. The frame's border will appear. Click the border.

5. Either drag the frame border elsewhere in the document, or click Frame

on the Format menu and then click the Remove Frame button. The text
inside the frame will return to its original position.

Case 2

Cause: The section is formatted for vertical justification.

Resolution: Change the section formatting:

1. On the File menu, click Page Setup.

2. Click the Layout tab.

3. In the Vertical Alignment tab, click Top.

4. Click OK.
