SYMPTOMS

When loading a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) that specifies a bookmark or anchor as part of the URL, Internet Assistant does not position the window to the anchor. For example, when loading the following URL, Internet Assistant positions you at the top of the document instead of jumping to the Other section:

   http://www.microsoft.com/pages/deskapps/word/ia/support.htm#other

This problem does not exist when you hyperlink to bookmarks in local documents. For additional information about creating bookmarks in local documents, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

   ARTICLE-ID: Q128499
TITLE : How to Create Hyperlinks to Bookmarks in Local Documents

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Internet Assistant for Word, version 1.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

WORKAROUND

After loading the URL, jump to the bookmark by clicking on the desired hyperlink.

MORE INFORMATION

To link to specific sections in other documents, you must include a hash mark (#) followed by the anchor name at the end of your URL, as the following syntax demonstrates:

   protocol://servername/document_name#anchor_name
