CreateDate Field Displays Zeros

SYMPTOMS

When you insert a CreateDate field in a Word 6.0 document that has been started from a Windows 95 desktop shortcut, the field displays zeros. The field displays zeros even after you update the field.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Word version 6.0, 6.0a, and 6.0c for Windows. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

WORKAROUND

Method 1: Before you insert the CreateDate field, save the document. 

          When you insert the field, the field will display the create
          date.
Method 2: Create the following macro, name it AutoOpen, and store it in 
          your Normal template.
