Auto macros in Word may not run when you use Direct Mail Manager to create a mail merge.
This functionality is by design. Certain auto macros will be ignored when Direct Mail Manager uses Word to perform specific functions.
When you perform the following tasks in Direct Mail Manager, certain Word auto macros will be ignored.
Auto macros will not run when importing the address list from Word.
AutoClose and AutoExit macros will run in Word when creating a form letter when using the Simple Form Letter.dot template from Direct Mail Manager.
AutoNew, AutoClose, and AutoExit will run in Word when creating a postcard when using the Postcard Wizard.wiz template from Direct Mail Manager.
AutoNew, AutoClose, and AutoExit macros will run in Word when creating a letter when using the Letter Wizard.wiz template from Direct Mail Manager.
AutoNew, AutoClose, and AutoExit macros will run in Word when creating a flyer when using the Flyer Wizard.wiz template from Direct Mail Manager.
AutoOpen, AutoClose and AutoExit macros will run in Word when you print a mail merge from Direct Mail Manager.
For more information about creating a new Word mail merge document, click the Help button in Direct Mail Manager and then click the Index button. On the Index tab in Help Topics, type the following text
mail merge
and then double-click the selected text to go to the "Create Form Letters
step" topic.
