SUMMARY

If you attempt to use your personal address book (PAB) from Microsoft Outlook for your address list in Microsoft Direct Mail Manager, you will receive the following error message:

   Error (3045) Couldn't use <filename>; file already in use.

   This error occurred when attempting to open the address list file
   <filename>. Please check that (1) the file exists, (2) you have
   selected a file format supported by Direct Mail Manager, and (3) it is
   not locked or your access is otherwise restricted.

Microsoft Direct Mail Manager does not support the use of a Personal Address Book file for an address list. Microsoft Direct Mail Manager can use the following file formats for an address list:

   Microsoft Access Database (.mdb, .mdw, .mda)
   dBase III and IV (.dbf)
   Microsoft Excel Worksheet (.xls)
   Microsoft FoxPro (.dbf, .dbc)
   Microsoft Word Document (.doc)
   Paradox 5.x Database (.db)
   Delimited Text File (.txt, .csv, .tab, .asc)
   Microsoft Outlook Contacts Folder
