SUMMARY

The DOC-path=(path) option in the WINWORD6.INI file ([Microsoft Word 2.0] section of the Microsoft Windows WIN.INI, in Word version 2.x) takes precedence over the Working Directory setting in the Program Item Properties dialog box (to access this dialog box, select the Word for Windows program icon and choose Properties from the File menu in Program Manager.)

CAUSE

In Word for Windows, you can specify the default directory for document storage using the DOC-path option. When you launch Word for Windows, this directory is the current directory. Use the following procedure to set the DOC-path option.

Word version 6.0 for Windows

1. From the Tools menu, select Options.

2. Choose the File Locations tab.

3. Select Documents in the File Types dialog and choose the Modify

   button.

4. Specify or create the Location of Document path and choose OK.

The DOC-path setting always overrides the Windows Working Directory setting. The Working Directory setting is used by Word for Windows if no DOC-path setting exists.

Note: Versions 1.0, 1.1, and 1.1a of Word for Windows do not support the DOC-path option.
