If you print envelopes using a manual feed on an Okidata OL-800 with Word 2.x or 6.0 for Windows, you will get the error message "envelope (COM) tray1 request" on the printer.
The printer driver does not enumerate the manual feed, therefore, it does not have manual feed functionality. Word 2.x and 6.0 default to tray 1 for envelopes since the driver doesn't list a manual feed option.
Change the envelope feed method to Envelope by following these steps:
1. From the Tools menu, choose Envelopes And Labels.
2. Choose the Envelopes tab.
3. Choose the Options button.
4. Choose the Printing Options tab.
5. Change Feed From to Envelope.
6. Close the dialog boxes.
The printer will now make a manual feed request rather then tray 1.
In Word 2.x for Windows, choose Options from the Tools menu, choose the Print category, and check to be sure "?Printer?s Envelope Feeder has been Installed" is selected. This option is the equivalent of selecting the Envelope feed as described above for Word 6.0.
