The information in this article applies to:
In Equation Editor 2.0, keyboard shortcuts for Equation Editor commands are unavailable when using in-place editing; Word 6.0 keyboard shortcuts are activated instead. This problem does not occur in the actual Equation Editor 2.0 editing window.
Note: For information on in-place (or in situ) editing, refer to pages 605- 607 in "Microsoft Word User's Guide."
This problem was corrected in Word version 7.0 for Windows 95.
To work around this problem either edit equations in their own editing windows instead of using in-place editing, or disable in-place editing for Equation Editor 2.0.
To edit equations in their own editing windows:
1. Select the Equation Editor 2.0 object.
2. From the Edit menu, choose Microsoft Equation Object.
3. Choose Open.
To disable in-place editing for Equation Editor 2.0:
1. Run Windows Notepad and open <Windows>\EQNEDIT.INI.
2. Under the [General] section add "ForceOpen=1" (without the quotation
marks).
3. Save the file and exit Notepad.
4. Restart Equation Editor 2.0.
5. Double-click the Equation Editor 2.0 object.
Equation Editor 2.0 will now only open in its own editing window, where shortcuts work normally.
