The information in this article applies to:
Word 6.0 for Windows includes the following font mapping files. While previous versions of Word used font mapping files for import and export, Word 6.0 for Windows uses font mapping files for export only.
Word for MS-DOS
Export: RTF_PCW.TXT
Word for the Macintosh
Export: RTF_MW5.TXT
RFT-DCA
Export: RTF_DCA.TXT
WordPerfect 5.0/5.1
Export: RTF_WP5.TXT
Microsoft Works for MS-DOS
Export: RTF_WWP.TXT
Note: The Word for MS-DOS converter and font-mapping file are included on
the Word 6.0 for Windows Supplemental File Conversion disks. The rest are
included with the Word 6.0 for Windows package.
Each of the font-mapping files is actually a self-documenting text file located in the MSAPPS\TEXTCONV subdirectory of the Windows program directory (for example, C:\WINDOWS\MSAPPS\TEXTCONV).
To use any of the files, open the file in an ASCII text editor such as Notepad, edit the file according to the instructions it contains, rename the file with a .DAT extension, and place the file in the same directory as the converter (usually C:\WINDOWS\MSAPPS\TEXTCONV).
For a complete description of the mapping syntax, refer to the text files listed above.
