SYMPTOMS

When you start Word for Windows with the /n switch, a general protection (GP) fault occurs if you create a new Word document based on a template that contains a link to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.

Note: The /n switch starts Word without opening a blank document.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word for Windows. This problem was corrected in versions 6.0a and later of Word for Windows.
