Using the FilePrint or FilePrintDefault command in an AutoExec, AutoOpen, or Command Line macro causes the following general protection (GP) fault to appear when you start Word for Windows:
WinWord caused a General Protection Fault
in module: WINWORD.EXE at 00AE:6C75
Note: You can execute a macro from the Command Line property of an icon in
Program Manager using the /m switch. Below is a sample command line that
runs a macro named TheMacro:
C:\WINWORD\WINWORD.EXE /MTheMacro C:\WINWORD\FILENAME.DOC
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word for Windows. This problem was corrected in versions 6.0a and later of Word for Windows.
Remove FilePrint and/or FilPrintDefault from the AutoExec macro in NORMAL.DOT. Use the following procedure to edit the AutoExec macro:
1. Close Word.
2. In Program Manager, choose Run from the File menu.
3. Type "winword.exe /m" (without the quotation marks) and press ENTER.
This command starts Word without executing the AutoExec macro.
4. From the Tools menu, choose Macro, select AutoExec from the list box,
and then choose Edit.
5. Find the location of FilePrint and/or FilePrintDefault in the macro and
remove these statements.
6. From the File menu, choose Save All to save the results of your changes
to AutoExec.
