In Word 6.0 for Windows, heading numbering cannot be copied from one document to another. If you format a heading in a Word document with the Heading Numbering command and then copy it to a new document, the numbering is lost, although the heading formatting is preserved. (To access the Heading Numbering command, open the Format menu.)
To correct this problem, reapply the heading numbering (choose Heading Numbering from the Format menu), or save the original document and then insert it in the new document (choose File from the Insert menu).
Paragraph marks and section breaks contain most types of formatting in Word. Usually, if paragraph marks and section breaks are copied from one document to another, the formatting also carries over to the second document. This is not the case with heading numbering.
