The information in this article applies to:
You can set up the default size and position of the Word for Windows window by creating an Autoexec macro that records the movements of the mouse.
If the Word program window was not maximized when you last exited, the location of the Word program window will placed on the screen according to Windows, not Word. The placement is in a stacked arrangement (similar to the child windows in the SYSEDIT program). The next time Word is opened, it will appear farther down and to the right of where it appeared previously in the same Windows session. If the Word program window was maximized when you last exited, the Word program window will appear maximized upon opening it again.
To create an Autoexec macro that restores the preferred window size and position of the Word for Windows screen do the following:
1. Open Word for Windows (make sure Word is in a window and is not
maximized).
2. From the Tools menu, choose Record Macro.
3. Type "AUTOEXEC" (without the quotation marks) in the Record Macro
Name box.
4. Size and Position the window as you want it to default.
5. From the Tools menu, choose Stop Recorder.
6. Exit Word for Windows and choose the Yes button when prompted to
Save Global Glossary and Command Changes.
When you restart Word for Windows it will be sized and positioned as
you specified.
