How to Troubleshoot Using the PSS.DOC PrinterTest Macro

SUMMARY

If a system error occurs during installation of Microsoft Word on a Macintosh running Apple's System 7.0, it is possible that a temporary folder named "Installer Temp" or "MSWord" will be left in the System Folder. These folders appear to be normal, but cannot be deleted from the drive using any common method.

The System 7.0 disk utility called Disk First Aid can be used to successfully remove these folders. Disk First Aid is found on the Disk Tools disk for System 7.0.

To remove unnecessary "Installer Temp" or "MSWord" folders with Disk First Aid:

  1. Reboot the Macintosh with a System disk that contains Disk First Aid.

  2. Launch Disk First Aid. Choose the Drive button and select the drive that contains the Installer Temp files. Choose the Open button.

  3. From the Options menu, choose Repair Automatically.

  4. Choose the Start button to perform the repair.

  5. When the "Finished. Repair completed" message appears, choose Quit from the File menu.

You may now delete the temporary folder from the System Folder.
