The information in this article applies to:
If you are in a Word document and if you in-place ("in situ") edit a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, you may notice long pauses while the keystrokes are processed. In some cases, if you are entering information very quickly, some of the keystrokes are lost.
Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
To improve the keystroke response, edit the spreadsheet in a window instead of in place by following these steps:
1. In Word, click on the spreadsheet once, so that it is selected.
2. From the Edit menu, choose Spreadsheet Object.
3. Choose Open.
4. Edit the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.
5. When you finish editing the spreadsheet, choose "Exit and Return to
Document" from the File menu in Microsoft Excel.
