The information in this article applies to:
Word for Windows Setup may register the Microsoft Graph, Equation Editor, or WordArt applications incorrectly if Microsoft Access has been installed prior to Word 6.0 for Windows. When this happens, the following error occurs when you try to run one of the applications:
The server application, source file, or item cannot be found.
Make sure the application is properly installed, and that is has
not been deleted, renamed, or moved.
This problem is caused by an incorrect line in the [embedding] section of the WIN.INI.
To correct this problem, edit the [embedding] section of the WIN.INI file so that it correctly states the path to the application. For example, for Graph the line would look like:
[embedding]
MSGraph=Microsoft Graph,Microsoft Graph,
C:\WIN31\MSAPPS\MSGRAPH\GRAPH.EXE, picture
(appears as a single line in the WIN.INI)
You must also edit the registration database by running REGEDIT /V and
editing the MSGraph command line paths (there are two of them that must be
edited).
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word versions 6.0, 6.0a, and 6.0c.This problem was corrected in Word version 7.0 for Windows 95.
