Text in cells may retain indents after bullets and numbering formatting is removed. This behavior occurs within interior table cells and within lists of items when the toolbar buttons for Bullets or Numbering are used to remove the bullets or numbering. This behavior does not occur when bullets or numbering are removed from text within the leftmost or rightmost cells in a table or from the first or last items in a list.
Bulleted items within tables are considered to be in list form even though they are spread out in table cells. Choosing the Bullets or Numbering button on the toolbar after a bullet has been applied is the equivalent of using the Skip Numbering (or bullets) command. Skip Numbering maintains the indent but removes the bullets or numbering.
The rightmost and leftmost cells are affected differently because they are considered the start and end of the list. When removing bullets or numbering from the first or last item in the series, this is treated as Stop Numbering and the indent is removed.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Word version 6.0 and 6.0a for Windows. This problem was corrected in Word version 6.0c for Windows
Method 1: To remove the indents as well as the bullets or numbering, choose
the Bullets And Numbering command from the Format menu. Select
the Bullets or Number tab and choose the Remove button.
Method 2: Place your insertion point in the paragraph containing the bullet
or number and click the right mouse button to access the shortcut
menu. Select the Stop Numbering option.
