When you save a document as HTML, bookmarks undergo the following changes:
By design, HTML markup does not allow nested bookmarks, so it ends the bookmark at the end of the paragraph in which the bookmark resides.
Bookmarks are converted to Anchor (<A>) tags and include the NAME attribute. In HTML, Anchors to bookmarks represent the destination for your ypertext links and are typically a word or short phrase.
For more information on how bookmarks are used in HTML, from the Help menu, choose "Microsoft Internet Assistant for Word Help" choose the Search button and type "Bookmark" (without the quotation marks), then highlight the "Hyperlink to Bookmark" topic and choose the GoTo button.
