The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 2.0, 2.0a, 2.0a-CD, 2.0b, 2.0c
  • Microsoft Windows operating system version 3.1

SUMMARY

The printing on the left margin of your labels is truncated when you print labels using Word for Windows on one of the Citizen 9-pin printers listed below and version 1.0 of the Citizen printer driver. This happens because version 1.0 of the driver features a .5-inch unprintable region for the left margin. As a result, some labels do not print correctly.

This problem occurs on the following Citizen 9-pin printer models:

   120D
   180D
   200GX
   200GX/15
   HSP-500
   HSP-550

Workaround

  • Use the Epson LX-800 printer driver.

    -or-

  • Change the Left Margin setting to .5 inch.

MORE INFORMATION

If you select Avery product numbers 4010 or 4011 when you create mailing labels using the MAILLABL.DOT template, the left margin setting is .38 inch. This setting is smaller than the unprintable region defined by the Citizen printer driver, so the text in the left margin is truncated.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the CIT9.DRV version 1.0 printer driver. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

Note: Although the left-margin problem is resolved in version 2.0 of this Citizen printer driver, a similar problem occurs with the top margin of mailing labels. Version 2.0 of CIT9.DRV defines a .87-inch unprintable region at the top of the page. The MAILLABL template sets a top margin of 0 (zero) inches. As a result, the top portion of mailing labels is truncated when you use version 2.0 of the Citizen printer driver. To work around this problem with version 2.0 of the driver, change the Top Margin setting to .87 inch.
