This problem may occur when you do the following:
1. You return external data to a worksheet in Microsoft Excel by pointing
to Get External Data on the Data menu, and then clicking Create New
Query.
2. You refresh the external data by clicking Refresh Data on the Data menu
or by clicking the Refresh Data tool on the External Data toolbar.
3. You clear the Save Query Definition check box in the External Data
Range Properties dialog box.
4. On the Edit menu, you click Undo Refresh Data.
To work around this problem, do not click Undo Refresh Data on the Edit menu if you clear the Save Query Definition check box.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
When you retrieve external data into a worksheet in Microsoft Excel, you can control how the external data behaves by displaying the External Data Range Properties dialog box. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Select a cell in the range that contains external data.
2. On the Data menu, point to Get External Data, and click Data Range
Properties. Or, click the Data Range Properties tool on the External
Data toolbar.
If you clear the Save Query Definition check box, Microsoft Excel removes
the settings you used to connect to the external data, and you can no
longer refresh the external data.
