If you copy a chart in Microsoft Excel and then attempt to paste the chart into a document in Microsoft Word, either of the following problems may occur:

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut
down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
If you click Details, you receive the following error message:
EXCEL caused an invalid page fault in module EXCEL.EXE at
<address>.
Where address is 0137:30040e8e or 0137:3003a6df in Windows 95.
These problems may occur if the following conditions are true:

To work around these problems, do not close the workbook in Microsoft Excel or quit Microsoft Excel until after you have pasted the chart in Microsoft Word. After you paste the chart, you can safely close the workbook or quit Microsoft Excel.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
