- Microsoft Windows operating system version 3.1
When two or more Word documents are arranged ("tiled") in the editing window, and you use the F2 key to move or copy selected text between two documents, you must click an inactive document twice to make the insertion point appear.
Normally, when you click an inactive document once, the insertion point appears in the last position it occupied when that document was active. In this case, however, after you select text in document "A" and use the F2 key to copy or move the selected text to document "B," the first click in the "B" window only activates document "B." You must click a second time to position the insertion point where you want to move or copy the text.
This behavior is by design. The F2 Move/Copy key command works differently than the way the Cut/Paste or Copy/Paste commands work. F2 Move/Copy does not use the Windows Clipboard to move and copy text, and by design it takes an extra click.
