After you merge the Word Settings (5) file into the Normal template in Word 6.0, only the 5 key on the numeric keypad works.
To correct this problem, obtain Word version 6.0.1 or later.
To work around this problem, use one of the following methods.
The drawback to this method is that all customization of styles, AutoText entries, toolbars, and macros are removed, and Word is restored to default settings.
To restore normal Word functionality, quit Word. Remove the Normal template and the Word Settings (6) file. Restart Word.
To avoid losing all your custom features, rename the Normal template instead of dragging it to the trash, and then use the Organizer to move styles, AutoText entries, toolbars, and macros to the newly created Normal template. (To locate the Organizer, choose Templates from the File menu.)
Use the numeric keys on the standard keyboard instead of on the numeric keypad.
Instead of merging the Word Settings (5) file to the current (Normal) template, choose Save to create a template called Word Settings 5. The numeric keypad will not function correctly when you use the Word Settings 5 template, but it will function correctly when using the default (Normal) template or other templates.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Word version 6.0 for the Macintosh. This problem was corrected in Word version 6.0.1 for the Macintosh.
