The information in this article applies to:
If Word for the Macintosh online Help is running on top of the other windows on your desktop, portions of the Help window may appear as "garbage" in your Word document window. This usually happens after you close the Open or Save As dialog boxes in Word.
These Help window scraps do not print in your document, and they disappear as soon as you do something that causes the Word document window to be redrawn.
This may happen when you click the On Top button to display the Help window while you work in Word. It does not happen if you turn off the On Top feature.
This is a display problem only; it does not affect your document.
If you redraw the Word screen, the Help window scraps disappear. To redraw the Word screen, scroll in your document or drag the document window off the screen and back on again.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition.
