SUMMARY

In Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, formatting in a data document is not applied to a print merged document.

To make the data in a specific field of a record have a particular character formatting (such as a font, font size, underlining, or color) or a particular character style (such as bold, italic, or small caps), apply the formatting to the appropriate field name in the main document.

MORE INFORMATION

The Data Document of a print merge is nothing more than a list of data that is drawn into the Main Document when the print merge is actually performed. Hence, all formatting - page layout, paragraph formatting, character formatting, and so on - should be done in the Main document in order for it to take effect.
