The information in this article applies to:
When you print labels using the Envelopes And Labels command, the label address may print with different formatting than appears in the Label Address dialog box.
Word displays the text in the Label Address box using Times New Roman, 10 point, single spaced (this is the Word default font). If you choose the Print button, the label is printed using the Normal style in the Normal.dot template. If you choose the New Document button, Word opens a new document based on the Normal.dot template, and the labels take on the Normal style of the Normal.dot template.
If you paste formatted text into the Label dialog box, the formatted text will appear as Times New Roman, 10 point, single spaced, and it will print formatted for the normal style of your Normal.dot template.
Method 1: Add the labels to a new document, format the labels as desired
and print the labels.
Method 2: Modify the text in the Address box. To do this, select the text
in the Label Address box, click the right mouse button to access
the shortcut menu, select Font or Paragraph and modify the text
to the correct format. Print the label(s).
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Word listed above. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Word 97 for Windows.
Microsoft Word makes extensive use of a new technology called Rich Text Edit (RTE) dialog boxes. RTE dialog boxes allow you to select multiple formatting options and to see the results of the formatting in the dialog box. RTE dialog boxes also allow the use of shortcut keys and menus to change the format of the text in the dialog box.
