In Word 6.0 for the Macintosh, Continuous section breaks can sometimes become formatted as New Page section breaks. This problem occurs if your cursor is in a section that is formatted as Continuous and you click OK to close the Layout tab of the Document Layout dialog box.
In addition, you may be unable to change the Section Start properties from New Page to a Continuous Section Start on the Layout tab of the Document Layout dialog box.
Another related problem occurs when you apply a different Section Start property to a particular section--this formatting may also be applied to the section directly following the intended section.
These problems occur because Word is incorrectly applying Section Start attributes to the section.
The section properties can be corrected in the Section Layout dialog box. To add the Section Layout command to your Format menu and have access to this dialog box, do the following:
1. From the Tools menu, choose Customize.
2. Select the Menu tab in the Customize dialog box.
3. In the Categories box, select Format.
4. In the Commands box, select FormatSectionLayout and click the Add
button.
5. Click the Close button.
Section Layout now appears on the Format menu below the Drop Cap command.
NOTE: The Section Layout dialog box works similarly to the Section command on the Format menu in Word 5.x.
Microsoft has confirmed these to be a problems in Word version 6.0 for the Macintosh. These problems were corrected in Word version 6.0.1 for the Macintosh.
