SGML: Incomplete Screen Redraw with Video Seven Driver

The information in this article applies to:

• Microsoft SGML Author for Word, version 1.0
• Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 6.0, 6.0a, 6.0c

SYMPTOMS

When you close any dialog box (such as Browser, Associations, Export Defaults, and so forth), only the Word Associations part of the window is redrawn. You must force a screen redraw by changing views in order to continue mapping or to select any item in the elements pane.

CAUSE

You are using the Video Seven WinPro/ProAudio Spectrum Plus video driver, with a resolution greater than 800 x 600 x 256 colors.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft SGML Author for Word, version 1.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, change to a standard VGA Windows video driver or change the resolution to 800 x 600 x 256 colors or lower.

NOTE: Other standard Windows drivers won't work with this card.
