XL: Files Whose Names Begin with "Start" Automatically OpenedID: Q78669

When you launch Microsoft Excel, if there are any Microsoft Excel files
(workbooks, worksheets, charts, etc.) whose names begin with the letters
"Start" and that are stored in the same directory with the Microsoft Excel
executable (Excel.exe), the files will automatically be opened by Microsoft
Excel.
NOTE: This feature does not exist in Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows.
This feature applies to all files that have any of the following
extensions:
XLS XLC XLM XLA XLW
"Microsoft Excel User's Guide 1," version 4.0, pages 80-81
"Microsoft Excel User's Guide," version 3.0, page 554
