The information in this article applies to:
Words that contain nonbreaking hyphens will be flagged as incorrect by the Word spelling checker. This behavior occurs even when the hyphens are formatted for No Proofing.
Use regular hyphens in your document and format the hyphens for No Proofing. (To locate this option, click Language on the Tools menu, select No Proofing from the Mark Selected Text As list, and click OK.)
Add the words with the nonbreaking hyphens to the custom
dictionary during the spell check so that those words will not be
flagged in the future.
We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
In Word for Windows you can enter nonbreaking hyphens by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+HYPHEN. In Word for the Macintosh, press COMMAND+SHIFT+HYPHEN.
