In Word 6.0 and 6.0a, when you set the row height for a table cell to an exact height and you type text in that cell that exceeds the cell width, the insertion point may appear to move to the cell or area below. You cannot see the "excess" text as you type, but the insertion point appears to move through the width of the cell or area below.
(To set an exact row height, select the cell(s) and choose Cell Height And Width from the Table menu. In the Height Of Rows box, select Exactly. In the At box, select or type the height desired. Choose OK.)
The excess text is actually wrapping to the next line of the cell, but because the row height is set to Exactly, the excess text may not have enough room (height) to display. However, the insertion point display criteria for page layout view in Word 6.0 and 6.0a for Windows indicates that if any portion of the insertion point is showing above the bottom of the table cell, the entire insertion point should be displayed.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word 6.0 and 6.0a for Windows. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
When row height is set to Exactly, you can type text that exceeds the set cell size into a cell, but the excess text does not display. The insertion point disappears when the cell boundary is reached.
