The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you select text in the outline view of Microsoft Word, the body text that is not showing between the visible levels is also selected. This allows the text with assigned heading levels to be rearranged without mixing up the nonvisible text. This also means that if the text of an outline is copied, the body text is also copied. When you paste this text into a program, such as Microsoft PowerPoint, the body text becomes visible.
CAUSEThis behavior is by design of Microsoft Word.
WORKAROUNDTo copy only the levels of text that are showing without copying the body text, follow these steps:
NOTE: When an outline is printed, only the visible text is printed.
