When you use Microsoft Excel, if you have selected the Hide All option under Objects on the View tab in the Options dialog box (from the Tools menu, choose Options), the AutoFilter Tool is disabled. This is because the drop-down arrows used in the AutoFilter are objects that are being hidden. Because Microsoft Excel is unable to display the drop-down arrows, it disables the AutoFilter.
This behavior is by design of Microsoft Excel.
