WD: Recording AutoMark Index Causes Page Fault

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to record a macro that uses the AutoMark feature for indexing a document, you may receive the following error message: 

   This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut
   down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
If you click Details, you receive the following error message: 

   WINWORD caused an invalid page fault in module WINWORD.EXE at
   0137:30080f6c.

To work around this problem, you can use the following Visual Basic for Applications macro example that performs the functionality of recording AutoMarking indexes: 

   Sub MarkIndex()
      ActiveDocument.Indexes.AutoMarkEntries _
      ("C:\My Concordance Document.Doc")
   End Sub
Note that "C:\My Concordance Document.Doc" should be a concordance document.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
