WD: Section No Break Acts Like New Page with FootnotesLast reviewed: February 2, 1998Article ID: Q26883 |
The information in this article applies to:
SUMMARYIn Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, if a document has two sections on one page and the first section contains a footnote, the second section may print on the following page of the document even if the section is set to No Break.
WORKAROUND
Method 1To place footnotes at the bottom of the page but keep the two sections on a single page, Create a dummy footnote reference mark in the original position and move the footnote reference mark to the second section:
Method 2 (for Word Versions 4.0 and Later Only)
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition.
MORE INFORMATIONThis problem occurs only if the footnotes are set to print at the bottom of the page. This is because Word forces footnotes from different sections to the bottom of a column or a new page. To delete a footnote, delete the hidden text for the footnote reference mark. If the Show Hidden Text check box is selected in the Preferences dialog box on the Tools menu (the Edit menu in Word 3.x and 4.0), you can delete hidden text from the document.
