SYMPTOMSWhen you format text as bold in Word for the Macintosh, both the text characters and the spacing between them becomes wider.
RESOLUTIONIf you are printing to a LaserWriter, use fractional widths to correct the problem. To use fractional widths, you must use a LaserWriter font. To do this, use the appropriate procedure for your version of Word.

MORE INFORMATIONAnother way to force the spacing to remain normal between bold-formatted words is to use the Change command to replace all bold-formatted spaces with nonbold-formatted spaces by doing the following:
This spacing problem occurs with most of the standard Macintosh fonts, such as Chicago, Courier, Geneva, Helvetica, Monaco, New York, and Times. This problem does not occur if you use a newer LaserWriter font, such as Garamond, New Century Schoolbook, or Helvetica Narrow.
