The information in this article applies to:
When you open a pleading document that was created in a later version of Word than is listed at the beginning of this article, line numbering may not line up with the body text. For example, the case number and the pleading title do not line up with the line numbers in the left margin.
The Pleading Wizard in later versions of Word use the "Don't center 'exact line height' lines" option to force the body text to line up with line numbering. Word does this by moving the text above the baseline and by using an exact line spacing measurement.
NOTE: The "Don't center 'exact line height' lines" option is not supported in the versions of Word listed at the beginning of this article.
To adjust the body text to align with the line numbering in the margin, use one of the following methods:
Insert a blank line above the text that you want to force down.
1. Select the text that you want to reposition.
2. On the Format menu, click Paragraph, and then click the Indents and
Spacing tab.
3. Under Spacing, reduce the Before value to half the value that is
currently set for line spacing. For example, if line spacing is set to
exactly 24 points then change the Before value to 12 points.
