Microsoft WordBasic does not include a macro statement or function to determine if a header or footer is linked to the previous section. To determine if the header or footer is linked to the previous section, use the CommandValid function.

To determine if the footer is linked to the previous section in your
document, change the ViewHeader statement to ViewFooter in the following
sample macro:

ViewHeader
X = CommandValid("FormatHeaderFooterLink")
If x = 0 Then MsgBox "Header is linked"
End Sub
The following sample macro determines if the header is linked to the
previous section, and if the header is not linked, the macro establishes a
link to the header in the previous section:

ViewHeader
X = CommandValid("FormatHeaderFooterLink")
If x = - 1 Then
ToggleHeaderFooterLink
CloseViewHeaderFooter
End If
End Sub
The CommandValid(CommandName$) function returns -1 if CommandName$ is
available in the current context; it returns 0 (zero) if the command is not
available.
