The information in this article applies to:
When you open a WordPerfect document that is formatted with odd page numbers on the right and even page numbers on the left, into Word 7.0 or Word 97, the odd page numbers appear on the left and the even page numbers appear on the right (the opposite of what they were in WordPerfect).
To change the position of the page number in the converted document, follow these steps:
1. On the Insert menu, click Page Numbers.
2. In the Position drop-down list, click either "Top of Page (Header)"
or "Bottom of page (Footer)," depending on whether the page numbers
are in the header or footer.
3. In the Alignment drop-down list, select the alignment you want, and
then click OK.
NOTE: Odd pages generally appear on the right side of a book, while
odd pages generally appear on the left. If you select 'Inside,'
from the Alignment drop-down list, the odd page numbers will appear
on the left side of the page and the even page numbers will appear
on the right side of the page. If you select 'Outside,' the opposite
will be true.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
WordPerfect ignores the rule for placing odd page numbers on the left and even page numbers on the right. Word always places even and odd page numbers in these positions.
