WD6X: Grammar Checker Inserts Bold, Red Words

SYMPTOMS

When you exit the grammar checker, one or more words flagged for a suggested change is formatted in red and bold.

This problem occurs when you do the following in the Grammar dialog box: you click the red highlighted word in the Sentence box, then click the suggested word in the Suggestions box. After double-clicking the word (from step 1) in the Sentence box, you click the Change button. Then you click Close.

WORKAROUND

After you close the Grammar dialog box, select the text and remove the font color and bold formats.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word version 6.0 and 6.0.1 for the Macintosh. This has been corrected in Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh edition.
