The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Word 6.0 for the Macintosh the mouse pointer flashes between the I-beam or pointing arrow and the watch cursor.
CAUSEThis problem occurs when Font Substitution is selected and no screen size of the Helvetica font is installed. It is a conflict between Word 6.0 and Adobe Type Manager (ATM).
RESOLUTIONDisable the Font Substitution feature in ATM or install at least one bitmap size of Helvetica.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Word version 6.0 for the Macintosh. This problem was corrected in Word version 6.0.1 for the Macintosh.
MORE INFORMATIONMicrosoft Word 6.0 requires both Geneva and Helvetica to display its dialog boxes. When Helvetica is missing and ATM is substituting, it causes Word and ATM to conflict over which font to display. Adobe Type Manager is manufactured by Adobe, a vendor independent of Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding this product's performance or reliability.
