This article describes how to write information from the registry to an output file using WordBasic in Microsoft Word for Windows 95, version 7.x.

The following sample WordBasic macro copies the information from the Data
key for Word in the system registry, to a *.reg file, which it saves on the
Desktop.

Open Environ$("windir") + "\Desktop\OldWordSettings.REG" For Output As

NOTE: Microsoft Windows NT, version 3.51 with Service Pack 3 or later
contains user profiles. Therefore, if you are running Windows NT, the first
line of the macro would instead be as follows:
Open Environ$("windir") + "\profiles\AllUsers\Desktop\
OldWordSettings.REG" For Output As #1
