When you enter a next page section break and change the subsequent paper orientation (portrait to landscape or landscape to portrait), the next page section break may turn into an odd page section break.
When you change paper orientation, the Section Start (on the File menu, click Page Setup, and then click the Layout tab) is set to Odd Page.
Before you change the orientation, click the Layout tab and change the Section Start back to "New page". The orientation can then be changed without enforcing an odd page break.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
